Projects

The Transportation Enhancement Program is a Federally-funded reimbursement program designed to help government agencies provide facilities or preserve features outside of the traditional road building fund. These projects can include constructing sidewalks and bike lanes, preserving historic transportation structures, mitigating water pollution from highways, and other transportation-related projects. Below are the current approved TE Projects that have been or will be programmed in the TIP.

The Safe Routes to School Program is a Federally-funded reimbursement program designed to help communities enable children to walk to school by:

• Providing the necessary bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure
• Teaching safety skills and transportation options
• Promoting the benefits of bicycling and walking
• Improving safety with local law enforcement
• Conducting research to analyze trends and outcomes

Local School-based SRTS Committees identify potential school candidates, develop improvement projects, and evaluate these projects based on existing data and community input.

Once projects are identified and evaluated, these projects are then prioritized based on input from the three (3) MPO Advisory Committees: the TAC, CAC, and BPAC.  The following project(s) have been awarded and will be programmed in the TIP.

How can we improve our transportation network?  We would like to know your ideas for possible improvements.  Although funds are limited, it is always helpful to have a list of potential projects that have been researched and evaluated to choose from.  The MPO Staff will catalog these suggestions and contact the appropriate agency to evaluate their feasibility.
